The practice of conservation must spring from a conviction of what is ethically and aesthetically right, as well as what is economically expedient. A thing is right only when it tends to preserve the integrity, stability, and beauty of the community, and the community includes the soil, waters, fauna, and flora, as well as people.

- Aldo Leopold

“PURGE YOUR SPURGE” Myrtle Spurge Exchange
& NATIVE PLANT SALE

May 15, 2010 10am-3pm
May, 15 you’re invited to the 4th annual “Purge your Spurge” and 2nd annual Native Plant Sale event.    Don’t miss out on this great opportunity to rid your landscape of the garden thug, myrtle spurge, and receive 5 free Intermountain west native plants in exchange. After receiving free plants, consider adding to your landscape by purchasing companion plants from our Native Plant Sale.

Our Native Plant Sale will give you the opportunity to restore the natural beauty of your landscape with over 70 species of high-quality, low-cost native trees, shrubs, grasses and perennials. Our plants are grown locally and are not taken from the wild. Each native is sold as a tubling; trees and shrubs are 10 cubic inches and perennials are 7 cubic inches.

How to Purge Your Spurge:  On May 15th, 2010 from 10 – 3 pm, bring your bagged myrtle spurge to the Salt Lake REI located at 3285 East 3300 South, where volunteers will be on hand to take your plants and in exchange give your 1 of 2 native plant mixes containing 5 Intermountain west native plants for FREE.  For more information contact Salt Lake County Weed Program Staff at 801-469-2861 or on the web at www.weeds.slco.org
